Santa Fe

Here's another one from the high school sessions that Jason Schraub and I pulled out of the vault and produced last year.  We imagined this song as a western - an open-road journey to find an ex lover who you just can't quit.  It was really fun to add in some cinematic elements (whistles, strings, etc.) to this track, and Kyle McAllister is doing some heavy lifting on the lead guitar.

Lyrics:

Title: “Santa Fe”

Heading out west to Santa Fe, never to return again

Looking for a lover to make amends, I don't know where I stand

Losing my mind, my girl gone with it

Bury my heart for just one more minute now

Come on

Maybe this trip just ain't worth taking

If I survive we just might break it all down

Maybe I don't want to meet my devils

You better believe they're six feet under the ground

Come back down from a high she stole but there's nowhere safe to land

Every mile down the road I see her in the sand

Living my life, a poor boy sinning

Talk about a God that needs forgiving now

Come on, come on

Maybe this trip just ain't worth taking

If I survive we just might break it all down

Maybe I don't want to meet my devils

You better believe they're six feet under the ground

When she comes around

I don't know much but I do know this

She takes what she wants with a subtle kiss

She's a light dose for a mighty fix

Whoa who-o-oa, she done me wrong

And its been too long

I don't know much but I do know this

She takes what she wants with a subtle kiss

She's a light dose for a mighty fix

Whoa who-o-oa, she done me wrong

Whoa who-o-oa, and its been too long

It's been too long

It's been too long

It's been too long

It's been too long

It's been too long
